KURT CONTI | Chairman
Mr. Conti is the fourth generation to lead the family business and is experienced in all of the different facets of the construction/engineering services industry, from homeland security, to heavy/civil infrastructure, power and industrial, and environmental remediation projects. As CEO, he drives the Conti organization to meet the goals of the corporation and is focused on the overall direction of the companies. Since assuming leadership of the business in 1990, Mr. Conti has built a dynamic management team and developed a very successful group of businesses, which employ the latest in technology and management tools to achieve outstanding results for their customers. Under his leadership, Mr. Conti has taken the Conti Group from $10 million in annual revenue to $350 million.
Mr. Conti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University. He also is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Owners/Managers Program.
AL BUCKNAM | Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer, Al Bucknam takes a hands-on approach to directing all aspects of SunDurance Energy, the solar energy affiliate of The Conti Group. Driving a mission to be recognized as the most trusted, innovative and reliable builders of complex commercial megawatt-scale solar power solutions in the industry, Bucknam places a great deal of emphasis on teamwork and has built a strong management team to drive SunDurance’s recent growth and successful project execution. In four years, he has led SunDurance Energy to become one of the fastest growing solar companies nationally, with 37 MW of projects installed or under contract. SunDurance Energy was ranked #38 on Inc. Magazine’s list of America’s fastest-growing private companies, and #3 in the Energy sector.
Mr. Bucknam brings with him over 20 years of experience developing corporate strategy and orchestrating rapid business growth through building strategic alliances or mergers and acquisitions, for both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. Prior to SunDurance, Mr. Bucknam drove the emergence of fuel cell leader, Plug Power, Inc. from a start up with 24 employees to a public company with 380 employees and a $400 million market value. He has a ten-year body of work in finance, strategy and operations with Ryder System, Inc. where he was recognized for creativity and leadership in margin improvement and strategic change initiatives.
Mr. Bucknam graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a BA in Chemistry and holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.
TODD MARTIN | Vice President Business Development
Mr. Martin comes to SunDurance with over 25 years experience growing profitable businesses for Fortune 500 companies. Holding several executive-level positions throughout his career, he has finely-tuned management skills, including: setting strategic direction, managing sales and operations, and building strong client relationships. He first joined The Conti Group in 2005 under for the renewable energy division and was instrumental in the launch of Conti’s wind energy company, Alternity Wind Power and its solar energy company, SunDurance Energy in 2007. Mr. Martin is responsible for developing the SunDurance sales team and driving growth. He can be counted on to motivate teams to excellence, identify and put in place best practices and find creative solutions to increase sales and profitability. In 2010 SunDurance Energy installed over 10 megawatts of systems. Mr. Martin received his BS from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
RICH KENNY | Vice President of Finance
Mr. Kenny has over twenty years experience in private/public accounting, auditing, and financial management serving the renewable energy, construction, business information, government and sponsored research sectors. Since 2003 Mr. Kenny has worked for The Conti Group supporting development, project financing and contract negotiations for both large-scale wind and solar PV projects. As the primary interface with the financial community Mr. Kenny has worked with Tax Equity, Debt Providers, Private Equity and a myriad of financial service providers.
Prior to Conti, Mr. Kenny worked for Dun & Bradstreet, Rutgers University, and Amper, Politziner & Mattia in a number of finance/accounting positions. Mr. Kenny graduated from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey with a BS 1991 and an MBA in 1998. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
